The Galicia Calidade brand is set to travel to space aboard the first orbital transfer vehicle designed in Spain by the Galician company UARX Space, which will be launched in the coming months from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
The Councillor of Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, visited the company’s facilities today in Porto do Molle, Nigrán (Pontevedra), a unique site in Spain and one of only five in the world capable of producing such proprietary systems that can maneuver in space.
OSSIE (Orbit Solutions to Simplify Injection and Exploration) is an orbital transfer vehicle designed to transport small and medium-sized satellites to different orbits, ensuring they reach their final destinations. It will enable the deployment of satellites into non-traditional Earth orbits, around the Moon, and along trajectories into deep space.
Lorenzana expressed the "immense pride" of all Galicia for this milestone to be achieved by UARX Space, a company "with enormous growth potential in the current economic and industrial context," she said. "We will continue to support it," she emphasized, "because, within the Strategy for Security, Defense, and Aerospace, it is one of the companies with the greatest potential in the autonomous community," she concluded.
